March 28, 2022 - Pedro Conejo

 Week 31

On Tuesday we found a golden Didi! We talked to them in the didi and got their number and then messaged them later that day and they said they wanted a lesson that night. This is not common! Sadly, they live in another area, but the sisters in that area are great as well!

As we taught a family this past week we shared the prodigal son parable and I learned even more the importance of simplicity in lessons. At the end of the story a little girl in the family didn't understand what happened. So I told the story again but with her as the older sister. And in the end she learned that sometimes we may be far from God, but we're really not that far! How sweet is that! We also heard a story about the conversion of an 8 year old who had the option to be baptized in the Catholic church and two days before that baptism said that he wanted to be baptized into the right church, the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The faith of the youth and primary children is so strong and so touching!

This past week we followed the counsel of our wise leaders in the district as well as zone: Tener fe de dejar de enseñar y you can go around asking people if they know of a member who lives nearby, and this member doesn't even really need to exist. Through these efforts we have been able to find those that are more ready to hear our special message as well as find new people to teach! We went around looking for Ashly Gutierrez who happens to be the daughter of the Bishop and we had miracles happen as we found many people who wanted to hear more about our message. We found two cute girls who we taught that they themselves are princesses of a Heavenly King. We left our number with them and later that night their mom called us wanting to learn more. It was awesome!

Doctrina y Convenios 58:42-43
43 Por esto podréis saber si un hombre se arrepiente de sus pecados: He aquí, los confesará y los abandonará.
42 He aquí, quien se ha arrepentido de sus pecados es perdonado; y yo, el Señor, no los recuerdo más.

Just a few thoughts about this great scripture: if we have truly repented (confessed and abandoned our sins) how could He, our Father, not forgive us as we do as He has asked with a sincere and wanting heart. This verse says that el Señor won't remember them any more, but we will, and I know there is great purpose in that. We remember so that we won't forget and so that we won't want to return to it. And lastly, like the little girl said in our lesson, sometimes we may feel far away, but our Father is never far away.

Mucho amor,
Hermana Warburton ❤

March 21, 2022 - no somos de este mundo

 Week 30

Thursday I received my new companion who is new to the mission and we have been working hard every day since and have seen some miracles. We have had lessons over the phone with someone we are teaching for 3 days in a row. She really wants to pray to learn if Joseph Smith really was a prophet and we are excited for her to receive an answer.

We had our lesson with the joven and she wants to be baptized. We are so excited for her, and now we are just waiting for her to share with her mom this desire and then we will be able to have the permission of the mom.

Yesterday we had a miracle. Because we live in the city people are always working. It is so incredible the work ethic of people and many people need to work super hard just to get by. Well we've been messaging a woman who is working until late at night. Last night we called her, and she answered! We shared a little bit of the first lesson and at the end she said, "you know I think my mom is a member of your church." What? She explained that her mom joined the church about 3 years ago in Ecuador. Her mom is in another country right now, but wow! And then she said ya a member of la iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los últimos tiempos. Haha so we don't really know if she's a member of our church or an apostate church but hey with this connection we invited her to attend church like her mom was doing because really this is a church for everyone, especially families.

1 Nefi 10:22
"el Espíritu Santo me da autoridad para que declare estas cosas y no las retenga."
As we share the gospel, it will have a familiar ring for people. How beautiful is that! Recently a member also shared with us how she was missing home and when she returned back to her house she realized that what she was really missing was her eternal home. We really aren't of this world. No somos de este mundo. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to return to the home in which our spirits long to dwell.

Learning lots about training and lots about and from my comp!

March 14, 2022 - new mom in the house

 Week 29

A big highlight of this week was our zone Pday! We only get to have one Pday each transfer together as a zone and last transfer we had more restrictions from COVID so we didn’t get to meet together. This transfer we had so much fun hiking around the mountains of Coronado. I finally got to see a little of the nature that everyone talks about when they think of Costa Rica. I had a great conversation with one of the sisters too. Isn't it so great that we can always be and become worthy of the love of God through Jesus Christ!?

We had another great text message lesson with someone we are teaching. Coming up soon we are excited to discuss why he believes he won’t become a “SUD''. We really do enjoy sharing what we believe in our church with him and he is very interested in learning.

We have been contacting many members this past week, sharing the restoration proclamation, thanking them, and then asking them to share their revelation with us. It was a challenge given to us by Elder Taylor. While not everyone answers us back, those that do have been so great. Many were touched by our messages and shared their revelation or are going to be praying to receive revelation to share with us.

Yesterday we got transfer calls and I learned I will be staying in Montelimar and will be receiving a new missionary straight out of the MTC!! I have no idea who she is. President always likes to have interviews with the new missionaries before assigning them. She's coming on Thursday, so I guess I'll learn then!

Whatever the cause of our suffering or afflictions, God can direct them to refine our soul. God notes every moment of our lives and through our covenants, he has promised His Spirit to be with us to strengthen us so that we can endure trials.

Mucho amor,

Hermana Warburton

March 7, 2022 - Es duro

 Week 28

What a week! Jaja what a day. Saturday morning started out normal. I was getting ready like normal when my companion hna pope yelled to me "hna there's a problem with the phone." When I finished getting ready I came to look at the phone, and yes there was a problem. It was basically like our screen had stopped working. We could get a sidebar to pull up, but it did nothing, so it was like we had no phone. Well this same day in about half an hour we were supposed to be in the church about 15 minutes away because Elder Taylor, a member of the seventy, was coming to visit our mission. The most important thing was that we got to that meeting, so we ran to our neighbors who we only know because we've given them cookies twice, and they asked for an uber for us. We had one minute to leave so we quickly grabbed our things and ran out the door, leaving my mini wheats on the table.

We made it to the conference and I AM SO HAPPY WE DID! It was so great and I got so many answers about how I can improve as a missionary. It was also a mission wide conference so everyone was there. It was so fun! Well luckily the rest of the day we also had a stake conference in the same church so we didn't need a phone. We learned that our phone could receive calls so after the conference some really nice ward members took us home and the zone leaders promised they would be calling us in the morning to get another uber for us because we couldn't contact anyone and we still had another meeting for stake conference.

Well Sunday after many ubers requested by other people and hours of study and many things falling through because we couldn't control our travels or confirm anything we got a new phone for the moment. Sadly we are still missing many contacts and things, but at least we can contact people.

We learned so much about how valuable technology is in the mission now. Literally without our phone we could do nothing.

We also had a great lesson this past week with the joven we are teaching and a member. Sadly, we've had a few people we are teaching say that they have to focus on work. But the bright side is that they are still reading the book of Mormon!

I loved the thought from our conference about teaching in the savior's way. As we teach as he taught, as we teach what he taught, His image will become ingrained in us. We will be him and he will be us. How great is it to have the master teaching helping us out!

Mucho amor,

Hermana Warburton
