December 20, 2021 - The Hermanas know that isla in English is pronounced "eye-S-land"

 Week 16

"But charity is the pure love of Christ" Moroni 7:47 I have read this scripture so many times but this week it caught my eye. I was thinking about charity and how we can develop charity. I've learned that charity is to have pure love for Jesus Christ as well as pure love like Christ!

As we get closer to Christmas our days get fuller and fuller with food haha. Christmas Eve is going to be a day full of food.

On Tuesday, we went to a member's house and had tamales! They were so good! The tamales are cooked over a fire so as we ate them it was like we were camping. And afterward we even smelled like we had been camping.

Wednesday we had a great lesson with an investigator where we made a goal for keeping the word of wisdom.

Transfers went really well and now I'm working in the same ward but a different area. I am already learning so much from my new comp! We have so many contacts and lessons each day which is so fun. I'm helping my comp with her English and as I help her I am also learning English why it's hard to learn it.

Saturday we had such a great miracle. We had a Christmas party and literally someone just walked through the gate to the party. They said that they had always wondered what this church was because it's usually closed during the week. We got their number! Such a miracle!

And to end the week, on Sunday we again had some more food. We had lunch and dinner about two hours apart from each other. We had enough food for like three days. But we ate it all!

Feliz Navidad!

December 13, 2021 - me voy pero me quedo

 Week 15

This week we had quite a few miracles. Our pescando time, a time where we only contact and strengthen members for an hour during our day is really paying off. On Thursday we had a lesson with a less active member who we haven't been able to contact for some time. And as my comp blessed their house, the spirit was so strong. Also on Thursday, we went looking for another less active member. We knew the general area where her business was, and we found it! We bought ice cream from her daughter and then as we were singing a Christmas Carol in what was probably 70 degree weather her mom came out. After we finished, she invited us in and she let us share a Christmas message. I love sharing our Christmas message because really the message is that Christ should be the most important thing in our lives.

In my reading of the Book of Mormon this week I was in Mormon. In these chapters, the power of God is no longer on the earth. In chapter 2, Mormon leads the Nephites into battle and "did beat them; nevertheless the strength of the Lord was not with us; yea, we were left to ourselves, that the spirit of the Lord did not abide abide us." We can still have success and be happy in our lives without the gospel of Jesus Christ. But as Mormon said, we are weak like unto our brethren. Our lives need Christ to have true and lasting joy! I am so thankful for the gift of the Holy Ghost that testifies of Christ in our lives. As we repent, we will feel the spirit as we are cleansed because the spirit only dwells in holy places.

Now back to the week: Sunday was another crazy day! First, Josefa came to church again and this time there was confusion with coordinating a ride so she just walked the 45 minutes to church! Then we got transfer calls. What was crazy was that we were with other hermanas in our tibas area when they got the call. One of them is leaving, and the other is staying in Tibas 2 and her new companion is Hermana Warburton. Haha, so I'm moving from Tibas 1 to Tibas 2. Which means that I will no longer be teaching Josefa. We're sad about that. But I'll still be with all the people and members I love here for Christmas. And I will have a native speaker! I'm confident that this transfer is where I need to go. It's where the Lord is calling me!

December 6, 2021 - good, better, best

 Week 15

This week we had a zone conference with President and Sister Johnson, and I had a great interview with both of them! We had such great discussions about so many different things. One thing that stood out to me most was doing good and becoming good. We talked about how we may see someone selling coconuts on the street and think, I should help them out and buy one. If they are selling coconuts on the side of the street they may need help. And so you do it. Then you may ask yourself this question: did we receive a prompting to do it or not. Well I love the way my president said it, are you doing and becoming good? If the answer is yes, then does it really matter if it's your own thoughts or a prompting. Because everything good comes from God. And as we are becoming better we should be better at making those good choices ourselves!

I'm also reading 3 Nephi right now! I love the chapters about Christ visiting the America's! I invite all to be reading the Book of Mormon and when you get to 3 Nephi, pay special attention to the things that Christ does while He is here.

A person we're teaching came to church yesterday for the third time!!! And then she came to the stake devotional/first presidency Christmas devotional. Lots of meetings and she was there in person for them all. We love to see that progress! We also had another miracle when we spotted one of our members driving past us as we were walking 45 minutes back to our house on Sunday. We just waved, said hi, and continued to walk, but then they stopped next to us and were like do you want a ride? Yes!!

Wednesday we were in the office all day because my comp had to get her dmex. Man it's a party at the offices when everyone and their grandma is there. Haah but really it was so fun to meet more missionaries because so far I've only met the ones in my zone.

Wednesday we also started to light the world! We try to do the ideas for service each day and it's so cool to see the little miracles, the light we bring to people's days, as we serve them.

We've  been given so many challenges and another is to read the New Testament as part of our study to learn more about Christ this season. During comp study after reading a chapter me and my comp were like wow that was confusing. I'm so thankful we have the Book of Mormon because even though it may have complex topics, it does a great job explaining them!

I love this season in which we can feel the true spirit of Christmas when we look for Christ. As you are serving this holiday season, I would love to hear about any miracles that come your way!
